Discernment in the Body: Knowing the True Gospel of Jesus Christ

  I believe church is an essential part of our walk with Christ; being gathered together with believers is a wonderful thing. Matthew 18:20 says, "For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them." But we must also understand that Jesus Christ is the cornerstone, and that His words reign supreme over what any pastor, spiritual leader, or church member says. Just as Paul said in Galatians 1:8-9: "But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed." So how, as believers, do we know if someone is preaching another gospel? We ourselves must know the one true gospel of Jesus Christ. Awakening of My Soul- A Prayer of Desperation

 



A separation has occurred in my heart 

Divided against myself a battle has begun.

My urge to want to pray and worship has become weakened

By the mundane matters of life.

I see others speak in your name and my heart starts to stir.

What I seek is to walk in your love and authority like they do.

But I have been surrounded by a cycle of procrastination and imagination.

Thinking of how my life could have been and dreaming of what it can be.

Hooked on everything else but you, idolatry has become my distraction.

My spirit is yearning for your love but my flesh has become desperate for pleasure.

I want it all to stop, driven on the brink of insanity.

It drives me to my knees to pray for an awakening of my soul.

For I have run out of options to satisfy my appetite for worship.

I want to come back home to my first love and the one who loved me first.
